You can either choose to accept it and take the challenge head on, or you can let it pound you to the ground and keep you down.
Sometimes challenges can get the better of us. I know, its happened to me before, and I’m sure it’ll happen again.
But one things for damn sure …I’m not going down without a fight.
Last year on December 12, 2011, I published the first ever Reader Challenge for the IP blog. It was a challenge to create a blog within 21 days.
Many took me up on that challenge. It was very successful and for the life of me I don’t know why I didn’t do any more of them. And the funny thing is that many of the readers requested it.
So here’s the next reader challenge…
Write a 100 Word Post
I challenge you to write a 100 word post. Not one word more or one word less.
Exactly 100 words.
It can be on any topic you want. It can be personal, a story, what happened that day, a poem, anything. Just as long as it’s 100 words exactly.
TIP: When writing your post, on the bottom left corner you’ll see the word count stats bar. This will help guide you with the word count.
You can also use this cool little word count tool I found at wordcounttool.net
Now this may seem, sound, or even look easy, but trust me, it is not.
I recently published my 100th post here on the IP blog and to celebrate it, I wrote a 100 word post. I think it was the most difficult thing I ever done cause I had to not only keep it at 100 words, but to have it make sense.
Time to Complete the Challenge
You have from now until December 31, 2012 New Year’s Eve to finish and publish your 100 word post.
Once you’ve published it, send me over the link to your post via my Contact Page. Make sure to write 100 WORD CHALLENGE so I can make sure to filter it a lot easier.
I’ll be giving away two $25 Amazon Gift Cards to 2 random participants. I will personally read every post submitted.
I will also be linking back to the posts of everyone who participated in this Reader Challenge in the Reader Challenge Winner Revealed post.
A Side Mission, Should You Choose to Accept it
I was doing some research on writing 100 words and found this cool little site 100Words.com.
They have their own challenge that takes place every month. Basically the challenge is that you have to write a 100 word post every day for 30 days. Pretty cool right!!!
Well I decided to get in on this and take them up on their challenge and I invite you to join me as well.
Nope, there’s no end prize or nothing. No cash or gift cards. It’s just a friendly challenge or an exercise that helps with discipline and creativity.
I believe that these are the 2 most important aspects of writing, especially blogging.
The discipline it takes to consistently create content and how creative you must be at times to make that content unique and your own is probably the most difficult thing to do, not to mention do both consistently…
For me personally, I think this exercise will help me to reach some of the goals I have set for the IP blog in the 2013 year.
I had trouble with discipline this year with consistently publishing posts, videos, and my podcast. I want to be more discipline and more creative with the type of stuff I publish.
Exercise Begins on December 1, 2012
I’ll be starting this exercise on the 1st of December. If you’d like to join me, just comment below by saying, “I’m in”.
Then go to 100Words.com and sign up. It’s totally free so no worries.
And in case you don’t have a blog of your own, you can use one of the post from this exercise to enter and participate in our Reader Challenge here.
