These 3 plugins I personally currently use or have used here on the IP blog, JKDC blog, or any of my other blogs. They’ve increased the number of optins in one way or another.
Each have their pros and cons and I’ll give you my best interpretation of them.
So lets get right to it shall we…
3 Plugins That Give You an Unfair Advantage
Unfair Advantage Plugin #1
MBP Optin Form Adder: This is one of the first list building plugins I used. It’s free and gives you a ton of options on where to place to optin form. You can customize the design right from your WP backoffice.
Pros: Fairly easy to use. Place it on any post, page, sidebar, top, bottom of content, etc.
Cons: If you’re not a designer, you’ll have to settle for the default form which looks horrible. But hey, in some niches, ugly sometimes work.
Unfair Advantage Plugin #2
Pop-Up Domination: The best popup plugin around. It has great looking pre-designed templates to choose from. Really easy to set up. You can even set timers on when and where the popup appears. This plugin will definitely increase the amount of subscribers.
Pros: Very easy to set up. Sexy looking templates to choose from. Can generate loads of leads.
Cons: Even though you can generate loads of leads, you end up with the majority being a junk list. Popups are sometimes very annoying and most people will optin with bogus emails just to get out of it.
Unfair Advantage Plugin #3
Optin Skin: My favorite list building plugin of all. Has a variety of templates to choose form. Similar to the MBP Optin Form Adder, you can place it anywhere on your blog. And you can edit the current templates with different colors, text, images, and more.
I’m currently doing a case study on this very plugin so look out for that post.
Pros: Super simple to set up. Can customize the current templates. Has analytics to track stats on where your leads opted in from.
Cons: You decrease the number of leads generated. However, you end up with a higher, quality of lead because they would have opted in without being forced like with popups.
Aweber Plugin: Aweber has their own plugin that allows you to put on your sidebars. Pretty much that’s all you can do with it.
Pros: You don’t need the 3 plugins mentioned above to capture leads.
Cons: You can only place it on your sidebar. You can only use this plugin with Aweber.
Things You’ll Need
There’s two things you’ll need to make all this work. It doesn’t matter what tool or plugin you use. You need these two things.
Thing 1: You need some kind of Email Management Service. I recommend Aweber cause they’ve been around for like ever, plus it’s what I use and all I know. However, you can use others like iContact, GetResponse, MailChimp, etc.
The first 3 plugins mentioned above is compatible with all the major email management providers. The Aweber plugin can only be used with Aweber.
Thing 2: You’re going to need an offer, (A.K.A. The Bribe). The best way to build a list is by giving something away for FREE. This is best known as a bribe. You’re simply bribing them with a free thing in exchange for their email.
This can be in the form of an eBook, report, audio, video, etc. The most important thing here is that whatever you promised to give them, that you give it straight to them without any hassles what so ever. No loops or hoops to jump through. Just give it to them.
Remember this, if they want it, they will get it. So don’t worry about getting fake emails or whatever. The best thing to do to minimize that problem is to have them double opt in.
The place I always go to for all of my offers is Master Resale Rights. This site has tons of stuff from ebooks, to videos, to short courses, anything you can think of on any niche market.
Why They Give You an Unfair Advantage
Lets be honest here. The only way to have any kind of advantage over your competition is to be different. To have something that people don’t usually see.
This is what each of these plugins do. They each offer a unique way to give whatever it is you’re giving away to your visitors.
Look at what your competition is doing. See what tools their using. And make yours better.
So there you have you have. These are in my opinion, the best list building plugins that will give you an unfair advantage over your competition. Choose the one that best fits your needs.
Any Other Recommendations?
If you got any other plugins you know of, personally use or have used before, let me know. I’d love to split test them.
