Today I want to share with you my Kale Shake Experiment.
I started drinking this kale shake on May 19th 2012. Since then I’ve lost 15 lbs. I’m feeling better than I’ve felt in years.
When I started this experiment, I was at 212 lbs. Today I’m at a flat 197 lbs. The last time I was under 200 was back in early 2010.
Now I know this is like way off topic of what I usually write, but since this blog is about me sharing with you all of my experiences, both online and offline, I thought it be good to share this with you.
So What Brought This Experiment On?
In early April, just a few weeks before my birthday, I had went to the doctors for my annual check up.
Things didn’t look good so the Doc sent for some blood work. Weeks later I went back for the results and BOOM, got smacked dead in the face with bad news.
Turns out my bad cholesterol is way high, and the good cholesterol is way down. On top of that, I got diagnosed with Diabetes.
At that very moment, as the doctor was telling me all this, I felt my life literally turn upside down. I had no idea what to do or what to think.
The doc put me on a strict diet, which who follows right, lol. Told me I needed to lose 20 lbs within the next 45 days.
I knew it was going to be hard cause for the past few months I’ve been trying to lose weight.
In this video Joe talks about this kale shake mix he drinks and how good it is for you. So I said ok, let’s try it.
The Experiment Begins
I tried Joe Rogan’s recipe, but didn’t quite like it much. I didn’t quit though, I really wanted to see this through.
I was sick and tired of how I felt.
- Tired all time…
- My body aching…
- Out of shape
- and Over weight…
I was determined to do something about it and to get this going.
I did some heavy searching. I read everything I could find, saw every video, and just started experimenting.
Everyday since May 19th, I tried something different. I took Joe Rogan’s recipe and just added different things to it, till I came up with my own recipe.
Changing My Eating Habits
I been drinking this kale shake everyday, first thing early in the morning. Basically I swapped out breakfast for the kale shake.
I’m a big eater so I drank a full glass. Since it’s thick and heavy, it fills me up pretty good.
And through out the day, I basically ate the same thing, only difference is that I cut the amount of food I consumed.
See, I use to eat till I couldn’t eat anymore. My stomach would hurt of all the food I ate.
So I cut everything down in half and ate a small snack in between meals. This was just to kill the hunger cause my body was still use to eating all that junk. By eating the snack, it calmed the craves and gave my body a chance to get use to the new diet.
I haven’t Felt This Way in Years
I’m feeling better than ever …I’m losing weight, my body doesn’t ache anymore, my headaches are gone, I don’t feel tired anymore, I’m staying awake all day. Just all around feeling great.
A week ago I started walking around the neighborhood because I was so full of energy that I just couldn’t sit still, lol.
Now my son and I look forward to walking every day in the afternoon ;-)
My Secret Recipe
This recipe was modeled after Joe Rogan’s kale shake recipe. The only difference in my kale shake smoothie is that I added a few more goodies to the mix.
I tried adding many different things to it and I found this recipe to be the best.
Here’s a quick video showing how I make my kale shake:

This recipe is good for 5 to 6 cups of kale shake and should only take you about 10 minutes to do.
The ingredients are:
- 2 Large Kale Leaves (if small then use 4 small kale leaves)
- 1 Celery Stick
- 1 Cucumber
- 1 Carrot
- 1 Banana
- 1 Pear (or apple)
- 8 – 10 OZ of Sambazon Acai Berry Juice (you can use water)
- half cup of Mixed Berries (or handful)
- half inch Piece of Ginger
- Chop up all your fruits and veggies into bite size pieces.
- Take a bunch of mixed berries, 1/2 inch piece of ginger, and chopped up cucumbers and throw them into the blender.
- Pour in just half of the juice.
- Turn on blender and mix it till it’s liquified.
- Take the rest of the chopped up fruits, veggies, and kale and throw them into the blender while it’s still mixing.
- Pour the rest of the juice into the blender.
- Mix well for about 5 minutes.
- When done, pour yourself a glass and enjoy.

I plan to post frequent updates on this experiment as a way to hold myself accountable, since I did publicly share it.
Also I’m hoping with this post to motivate and inspire others who might be going through the same thing I am, to try this out. Who knows, it might just help. Can’t hurt to try.
Plus I still have to go back to the doctors for a follow up so I’ll definitely be giving you an update on that.
It’ll be interesting to see how I’ll look like or even feel like in 2 or 3 months time. I’m certainly feeling the positive difference and am going to continue on.

Today I wanted to share with you something close and personal to me.
I know this is not my usual stuff I post here, but I think it’s important to not only share online business related stuff, but also other things that happens in my day to day life.
