This is the first of a series of reports that I will be posting every single month giving you detailed info on the growth and progress of my new brand and blog called IncomePress.com.
I’ll first start with the biggest things that happened within the month that could have made an impact in the traffic coming to my blog and in my earnings.
I will also break down what I did to get traffic and the sources of my earnings to keep track on how it’s doing. I want to be totally transparent about everything I do with the income press blog.
I’ll talk a lot about the strategies I used and implemented. This is where I tell ya whether those things work or didn’t work. I share this with you so you can learn from my gains, as well as my losses. I don’t do this to brag or boast, as you can see this month wasn’t something to really brag about as far as income goes.
I do this because I want to show you how I took action by starting a whole new “Brand”, a new blog, and executed a plan of action to see some kind of results, good or bad …as long as I got some kind of results to analyze.
And last but definitely not least, I’ll finish off the report with some important things that I learned and what I’ll do to improve results.
With that said, enjoy this months report ;-)
Biggies in November
As you may or may not know, I started the income press blog as part of an ongoing challenge I made to myself back in October of 2011 called, The Niche Site Challenge. This is something I’ve been wanting to do for quite some time now. I was just putting it off for so long, (for nearly 2 years).
So I went ahead and made it public that I was going to start a new brand and get into niche marketing. This was just my way of forcing myself to actually get off my ass and DO IT!
Let me tell ya, procrastination is a bitch. It can rip you apart if you let it. I learned a long time ago that if you want to do something and just can’t get yourself to do it, or start it, then simply make it public. That way you’re held accountable for your actions. You’re forced to actually start and do something.
Starting the niche site challenge has been the best thing ever. not only for myself, but for my readers and subscribers as well. Many have took part in the challenge, starting their very own niche site, and some even started a new brand, a blog just like this one.
I’m so very proud of them and can’t wait to see how their blogs and niche sites progress.
The Beginning
As I mentioned earlier, I want to be totally transparent with everything I do with this blog. Everything from the first day I purchased the domain, first post, first traffic, and the first dollar made.
This is something I didn’t get to do with my old blog, JoeyKissimme.com. When I first started that blog, I had no idea what I was doing. I didn’t know where the traffic, leads, or the money was coming from.
With the income press blog I get to start all over again, from scratch, and do it the right way.
Nov. 13, 2011 – I purchased the income press domain from GoDaddy.
Nov. 16, 2011 – I purchased hosting from BlueHost and installed wordpress.
Nov. 20, 2011 – I went live with the Income Press Blog and its first posts.
When I say I started from scratch, I mean I started from SCRATCH. From the ground floor. I wanted to make sure that I didn’t get the stats from this blog mixed with everything else I had going.
I went with a new hosting company. Created brand new affiliate accounts for most of the affiliate programs I’m in. New Youtube channel, feedburner, google accounts, basically started from ZERO.
Traffic Stats
Traffic to the income press blog has been kinda up and down. Mainly because the majority of the traffic comes from my email list. Which is why you see those huge spikes there in the image below, (my google analytics).
The first day of real traffic, it hit 427 visitors. For the month of November, the total traffic was 1,735. Bounce rate is a bit higher than what I would like. The Avg. time on site is fairly good at 2:58 minutes. Would like it a bit higher, in the 5 – 10 minutes range. And 67% are new visitors.
Remember, this is a new blog, on a new hosting account, therefore it does not recognize my current readers I have on my old blog. My Google analytic thinks is new, at least my new one does.
Traffic Sources
These stats are kinda cool. This breaks down where my traffic is coming from. As you can see, again the majority of the traffic is from my part. numbers 1 through 4, 6, 8, and 9 are all me. Numbers 5, 7 and 10 are either organically or from people just sharing my links with other.
Facebook is obviously from people sharing and liking my pages. They’re digging my content. Youtube is from people searching either for me or from one of my many video tutorials on various topics.
And My Blog Guest is a service I’ve been using to guest post on other peoples blogs. And it’s obviously working cause people are coming to my blog from those posts I wrote.
Even though the numbers aren’t huge, the possibilities are great. I can see that people are sharing and spreading the word. People are finding me. I am getting fresh new traffic. And I can see that some kind of traffic is coming from the guest blogging thing I been testing.
Now that I got results to analyze, I can now tweak and optimize to get maximum results.
Other Tools
A fellow marketer told my about this tool called Get Clicky. I’m totally loving this. You can actually see real time stats. You can see if there’s any visitors on your blog at that very moment.
One feature I really like is the traffic sources breakdown. I can actually see where the traffics coming from.
Again, here you can see that the majority of the traffic comes from me. But if you notice, I got some kind of traffic coming from backlinks, and you can see that my blog is being spread around social media sites …and that’s always a plus!
The searches are really low but, and a big BUT, people are finding me in the search engines. And that’s always a big plus. When people can find you from searching whatever in the search engines, you’re doing something right.
Income Earnings
Well, hope this part isn’t a disappointment for you, lol. There aren’t any earnings to report, yet ;-)
As I said before, I started everything from scratch. I hate to sound like a broken record, but it’s true. The reason I did that was to make sure that I don’t mix any stats on this blog with my old blog.
I want to make sure that any and all income I report, comes from this blog and this blog only. It’s the only way I know how to really show you how I started something from the ground floor and turned it to a success.
So with that said, time for some reporting…
Income Press Reports
Ranking:
- Alexa Ranking: 567,673 as of Dec. 3 2011. Not bad for only being 2 weeks old. Started with a ranking of over 20 million.
- Page Rank: A BIG FAT 0 – This will change!
Traffic Sources:
- JoeyKissimme.com – backlinks from my old blog
- Facebook.com – people liking and sharing
- Youtube – from my new channel
- Email Marketing – my aweber list
- My Blog Guest – Guest Blogging Services
- Other unknown – Probably from weird traffic places, lol
Tools and Resources I’m using:
- Get Clicky Analytics – Real time analytics (I’m totally loving it!)
- My Blog Guest – Using it to do some Guest Blogging
Having a Blast:
This experience has been a ton a fun. Lot’s of work, but definitely worth it. I can already see some positive things coming from it.
People are loving the content. They’re loving the blog. And most importantly, I’m seeing positive results from the things I’ve been split testing.
What’s next?
For the month of December, I’m planning on doing more guest blogging. My goals for this month is to guest post on blogs like Pro Blogger, John Chow, Daily Blog Tips, Young Pre Pro, Ian Fernando, David Risley, Income Diary, and my ultimate goal to do a guest post is on Smart Passive Income.
SPI is my favorite blog of all time. It is the sole reason why I started a new brand and blog and got back into niche marketing. I hope to one day have the Income Press Blog as popular and as well loved as SPI is.
These are all my favorite blogs I read on a regular basis. It would be an honor and a privilege to write for any one of these blogs. These blogs have influenced me in a positive way in some form or another.
I know they can do the same for you. Visit them, check them out, and make sure to let them know I sent ya ;-)
C-ya in next months reports…
Peace and I love ya for free ;-)

It is extremely interesting to watch something start from its’ inception and watch it grow. I do have a few questions. One, where did you get the graphic of yourself at the top of the page??? Kim Roach from BuzzBlogger has one too and I think it is really cool and it does help the look of your site. I am really curious why you are not using Facebook and Twitter with a much more emphasis then your traffic statistics show.
I have to imagine that the Joey Kissimmee.com site is continuing to make you money and it would be very
interesting to see the same traffic statistics that you are showing us for this new blog, to see them for the
Joey Kissimmee blog too. All in all this is very interesting to watch as it takes place.
Paul
Hey Paul the cartoon image I got from fiverr.com. Only $5 bucks, lol. Just go there and search for cartoon image.
About the FB and TW, I am planning on using them, but not in the way you might think. I will use the medium with the help of the readers. By having my readers share my blog posts via the share buttons. I want to focus more on the guest blogging part for now. It’s something new to me so I just want to test it. It’s all about split testing.
And about JKDC, yes it still makes money and traffic keeps flowing. I was thinking of creating a monthly reports for it, but with this new blog, and also writing occasional posts on my old blog, it would be to time consuming. It would eventually take away the quality content I can bring.
JKDC gets over 50% of its traffic organically. It’s something I’ve built over the years. I will be using some of the same tactics I use to drive traffic to JKDC on my this new blog. But I will be implementing a lot of the new tactics to the new blog as well. And I will update it all here.
Hope this answers your Q.
Hey Joey my man, I’m with Paul here. Why don’t you use more facebook and twitter type tactics? Also would be cool to see the traffic coming in from your old blog. Thanks my brotha from anotha motha :) As always, pure awesomeness!
Joey I love the way you are breaking things down for us. I think it’s great that you are charing the way you are doing this. Gives us a chance to learn and follow what is working. Thank you so much Joey.
Another great post Joey. I’m glad you brought the monthly reports over from your old blog. This is my favorite parts from you blogs. Can I ask if you’re going to continue the monthly reports on your old blog?
Joey I have a quick question, hope you don’t mind. On my blog guest, can I submit an article that I previously posted on my current blog? Thanks in advance Joey.
This is very inspiration for me. You inspired me to do similar reports for my site. I want to thank you personally Joey. We need more people like yourself in this industry. I got an email yesterday about making money in the next 24 hours. I replied telling them to go to your blog and learn how it is really done. I can not thank you enough for what you provide here. Thanks, Onike Wimblie.
I really enjoy watching you build up your new sites. But I saw that most of the traffic is coming from the visitors to your older blogs. It is much more difficult – well time consuming too, when you start from scratch, not having any visitors yet.
Yes Christa, I do have a bit of an advantage just because of the traffic from my old blog. I really didn’t want to do that, but it was really difficult not to because it was part of the NSC and I had to mention the site. Many people came over just to see it. Either way, when you start something new, you can get some visitors fairly easy. And if your stuff is good then they will spread the word.
I will be doing something pretty cool here next week, where I take you through every step of the way from creating you site to getting traffic. And I’m doing it with ya ;-)
Hi Joey,
Thanks for revealing these precious resources and your step by step process. Not many bloggers would tell all. I think your Alexa rating is great for 2 wks in!
I think guest blogging is a great area to focus on. Great way to get your face and name out there.
Keep motoring!
Hey thanks Louise. I really appreciate that. And yeah, you’re right. Not many blogger are transparent with what they do. In fact not many marketers are. And to be honest, it’s kinda scary. But all we can do is focus on what we do. The numbers keep growing and increasing daily. Can’t wait till next month to show you some of the results for December. Take care and have a great day….
Really like everything about your newest site and thanks for sharing what you do step-by-step…this is important for people starting from scratch.
