This post today is a follow up to the IP 009 podcast episode, (How to Use Pattern Interrupt to Increase Conversions).
Today I’ll be sharing with you 5 steps you can use to positively improve not only your business, but your day to day lives as well by using pattern interrupt.
Most people do not positively embrace any changes in their life. A change in their pattern can cause disruption and disorder. In business, most people are most comfortable once they have established a pattern or a routine that they are comfortable with.
Anything that disrupts or causes change to this pattern is not positively welcomed. However, what most people do not realize is that pattern interrupt can be used as a positive thing. Pattern interrupt doesn’t always have to be a negative thing, using it correctly; it can propel both your life and your business to new heights.
Pattern interrupts happen every day in our lives. They give people something new to look at. It gives a new perspective to an individual. Some of them happen intentionally while others are particularly created to create controversy and attract the attention of the individual.
The biggest issue is never about the pattern interrupt; rather, the focus is on what you do after it happens. Most people chose to grumble as they go back to their old patterns, but others use that situation to better their lives or their businesses.
As much as everyone is entitled to do what they want, choosing to go back to old patterns is never the better option.
5 Steps to Improve You Life and Business Using Pattern Interrupt
1 – Analyze your old pattern/ routine: When your old pattern is interrupted, it should give you a jolt to want to create an even better pattern. Instead of just going back to your old routine, analyze your old routine; identify all the positive things about it as well as all the negative things that you could improve on. Although at that point going back to your old routine seems like the easiest option, try as much as you can to not drift back into it.
2- Identify how to fix old problems: During the analyzing of your old pattern, you should be able to identify the negative things that were attached to your old pattern. Try and find solutions to those negative habits or patterns. For example, if your online business has had issues of many clients refusing to buy products because a certain payment method wasn’t available to them, make it available.
There might have been a reason (perhaps just mere inconvenience on your part) that made you not incorporate that particular method, however, try as much as you can to try and figure out a solution to that problem. Do not give in to petty excuses, try and remember the positive outcome that you expect to get as a result of that change.
3 – Create a new pattern/routine: Once you have identified all the problems with the old pattern and found solutions to them, the only other thing left is to create a new pattern. This new pattern should consist of all the positives of the first pattern as well as the solutions created for the negatives.
You should also be able to make other improvements if possible. By combining everything you should be able to come up with what seems like a perfect pattern. It should be able to balance all aspects of your life or of your business in order to ensure that you get the most out of it.
4- Apply the new pattern/routine: Once the pattern is ready the only thing that is left is to apply it. Be enthusiastic about it and try to not fall back into old patterns and habits. It is important to realize that implementing a new system or a new routine is not always easy or simple but it can be done.
5 – Evaluate the new routine: The problem with most people is that once they get comfortable with anything they are unwilling to change it. Some things might seem perfect but sometimes all you need is an evaluation to determine how well the routine is working for you. Constant evaluation of our lives or our businesses helps keep us in perfect form. They challenge us to better both our lives and our businesses.
The next time you have a pattern interrupt in your business or in your life; do not be too quick to go back to old routines or old patterns. Evaluate those patterns and see what improvements can be made to put you in a better position.
