It’s July of 2012. We’re half way through the year, and I got 2 questions for you…
1: Looking back, are you where you want to be at?
2: If you aren’t, then why not?
These are serious questions. I mean we had 6 months to work on what ever we set out to accomplish and for some odd reason we’re not where we want to be.
We have to seriously look back at the last 6 months and evaluate and re-evaluate what we’ve been doing.
Figure out what the hell went wrong. What didn’t you do. What could you have done differently.
Here’s the cold hard truth
If you’re looking back on the past year and you’re NOT happy with where you’re at now, I mean at this very moment …I’m sorry to say that it will not get any better.
That’s if you keep on doing the same ol’ shit. You just can’t keep doing the same thing that’s not working for you. Plain and simple. You just CANT!
If this is you and you want to fix it, here’s how…
Change What You’re Doing
Obviously what ever it is you’re doing, it’s not working and you need to change it ASAP!
If it was working, then you’d be the happiest person in the world right now. But if it’s not, it’s time for a change.
How to Change What You’re Doing
If you’re not happy with where you’re at right now, then you need to follow the 10 step program below.
It’s a 30 day plan to get you closer to where you want to be at. If you follow these 10 steps, I guarantee you’ll be a lot closer than where you’re at right now. It may not be where you want to be, but I promise, it won’t be where you use to be.
With that said, let us begin:
The 10 Step Program
Step 1: Focus – It’s very important that you get totally focused. Turn off all distractions like your computer, your cell phone, tv, any kind of distractions what so ever.
Lock your self in a room, by yourself, with a legal pad, note pad, or any peace of paper to write on along with a pen or pencil.
Step 2: Flush – You need to flush out all the crap that’s on your mind. You must set your mind at ease and forget about everything else. Forget about all the shit that hasn’t been working for you. Forget about those emails telling you how this is gonna work and how that is gonna work. Just don’t think about anything other than you.
Step 3: Creating Your 30 Day Plan – You’re going to begin creating your 30 day plan. To do this you’re going to need 4 pieces of paper. On each paper you’ll write the following titles at the very top of the page.
Name each paper:
- Paper 1- Things I Really Want
- Paper 2 – Things I have to Do to Get the Things I Want
- Paper 3 – Doable Things
- Paper 4 – Things I Can Do NOW!
Once you’ve written the titles, it’s now time to write stuff down.
Step 4: Things I Really Want – On this paper you’re going to write down all the things you want. I mean really, really want. Not what your wife or hubby wants. Not what your kids want. Not what your parents, neighbor, or cousins want. But what you really want …YOU!
Be specific to what you want. If you want a big ass yacht, then jot it down. If you want a huge house, put it on that list. Want a nice flashy car, get it on there. If you just want to have something small, simple, and straight to the point, it still should be on this list.
It’s ok if you feel a bit selfish here. It’s your list. But be specific…
Step 5: Things I have to Do to Get the Things I Want – On this one you’re going to write down all the things you have to do in order to get the things you want. If you don’t believe it can be done, write it down anyway. Even if you don’t know how to get it, just write down what you think you have to do to get it.
This list will be a bit longer, but it’s ok. It’s important to write it down so you can visually see what you have to do.
You might get a bit overwhelmed by this list here, but don’t worry, just take your time with this list. Don’t rush it.
Step 6: Doable Things – Go through the list on step 5, you know the one that’s probably freaking you out a bit, lol, and write down all the things you can actually do from that list. I mean things that you personally know how to do.
Things that are doable and achievable. Even if it’s something that you get someone else to do for you, just make sure you know about it and you don’t have to waste valuable time learning about it.
Step 7: Things I Can Do NOW! – Out of all the things on the Doable’s list, write down the things you can do RIGHT NOW! Stuff that you can literally do within the next 30 days, not the next 30 months.
You’d be surprised at all you can do in just 30 days.
This list should also be things that you yourself can do. The reason for this is because you’ll waste precious, valuable time on outsourcing. Unless you have a full time staff, I’d stick to things you can do yourself.
Step 8: – Dump the Other Stuff – Take the first 3 lists you created and dump it. Yeah, you heard me, DUMP IT!
Yeah, you’re probably thinking …Man, I just spend a long ass time writing that shit down”.
Well, here’s the thing. All that other shit you just spent all that TIME writing, that was the last 6 months worth of shit that’s been holding you back.
I’m sorry if I sound blunt here, but it’s the straight up truth. And if your feelings are hurt, then you definitely need to take those three lists, put a match to it and let it burn.
The past is the past. What’s done is done. No need to worry about it any more. If you worry about it, you’re just taken focus and energy away from the things you can actually do.
It’s time for a change. It’s time to move on.
By dumping all that other crap, you’ll have much more clarity and will even come to realize that you didn’t even need those other things on those lists.
Step 9: Get to WORK! – Now that you weeded out all the bad ju-ju, it’s time to get stepping. This means, just start working on the things you can actually do for the next 30 days. Focus ONLY on those things.
Don’t worry about how to get started, or about the things you need to get started, or about the little minor details. Just Get Started!
Stick to the 30 day plan till it hurts. Do nothing else but that 30 day plan. At the end of the 30 days I guaranTEE you’ll be a lot closer to where you want to be at, than where you’re at right now. It may not be where you want to be, but it won’t be where you use to be. That I can promise you.
Step 10: Accept the Reality – This is NOT going to be easy. There’s no if, ands, or buts about it. I’m not going to sit here and lie about it. It’s just not.
You’ll be so stoked about this for the first week or two. You’ll be full of energy and excitement. Then …you’ll start losing focus. You’ll get discouraged. You’ll lose momentum.
And you know what?
That’s when you gotta kick yourself in the ass and say …
WTF ARE YOU DOING? GET TO WORK! YOU GOT 2 WEEKS LEFT!”
Or whatever time you actually have, you get the point.
It happens to all of us so don’t freak out about it. It’s just human nature. Hell, it happens to me. You just have to realize when it does happens to you, and when it does, to pick yourself up and get to work.
And that I believe is the hardest part of this whole thing. Picking yourself up. It’s one of my deepest struggle. My darkest demon. But I fight and pull through, and somehow find a way to pick myself back up.
If I can do that, I know you can. I believe in you.
The Next 30 Days
You’ve been challenged. For the next 30 days, you’re going to be kicking ass and taking names.
It’s not going to be easy. But I promise you that if you do nothing else but this 30 day plan, you’ll be closer to where you want to be than where you’re at right now at this very moment.
Hold Yourself Accountable
One of the ways I hold my self accountable is by announcing it publicly. So once you’re done writing your 30 day plan, post it in the comments below.
Put yourself out there. Let us know what your plans are. And in 30 days, we’ll see how close you are to where you want to be at, and how far you are from where you’re at right now.
Peace & I love ya for free ;-)
