We all excited when we first start a new blog. We spend countless hours coming up with ideas for it. Writing content after content to fill it up as fast as we can. Then we wait for people to come, comment, like it, tweet it, etc., and nothing happens. No ones coming. No traffic coming in.
We get discouraged, stop maintaining it, and let it go. This is what most people do, especially the new people coming into the game. They start a new blog, fill it with content and hope the traffic is just going to come in.
Well it doesn’t work that way. Unless you’re an SEO freakazoid, you’re not getting a lick of traffic. It’s not your fault though. You just haven’t been taught how to do it the right way.
In this post I’m going to share with you how you can get traffic to your new blog and get it free. Now I must warn you that this is not the only ways to get traffic. There are a ton of ways to get traffic to your blog.
This post is just going to point out some of the best ways to start getting some kind of traffic to your NEW blog. It’ll help get the ball rolling until you start to get that organic traffic coming in. This will help you get some kind of good solid, high quality traffic. And that’s what it’s all about. Getting high quality traffic.
So let’s begin shall we ;-)
This is obviously the fastest way to get traffic to your new blog. If you have a list, then simply just whip up an email and send it to them. There is no better way to start getting traffic than with your own list.
It’s the best way for it to go viral as well cause your people, your loyal subscribers will click on those social sharing buttons and spread the word. I use Aweber for all my email marketing stuff.
Ad swaps are a coming practice among IM’ers. It’s probably the simplest thing to do. All you do is contact an ad swap partner and swap emails.
Let me explain. You write a short email with some content related to your post and obviously, you link back to your site.
You then give that copy to your swap partner and he/she sends an email blast to their list. He or she gives you their email copy so you can send it to your list.
This is called an ad swap. One of the best ways to get free fast traffic to your blog. The only downfall here is that you must have a list. usually the same list size as your ad swap partner.
If you have a list, I highly suggest you do this method. It does not matter what size your list is you’ll find someone to ad swap with. A great place to find good ad swap partners is Safe Swaps.
Forums are a great way to get the word out about your blog. People are always looking for help and answers. Forums tend to build and have a solid loyal community that you can easily tap into.
Do a search in google for your specific niche market. Look for ones that have a good amount of users. Become a member, look for people asking questions, needing help, or have some kind of problem that you can fix or answer.
If you have the answer in your blog post, send them directly to your post. Most forums will allow you to post links. I like going to this one forum called The Warrior Forum.
7: Yahoo Answers
Another great place to find people with questions, needing help, or looking to solve their problems. Just like with Forum Posting, just look for people asking questions related to whatever your blog postings about, and link back to your blog post. Easy traffic ;-)
Here’s a cool little trick I learned recently while reading a post on one of my favorite blogs. When you tweet about your post, make sure you insert a hash tag related to your blog post.
When people do a search on twitter for that specific topic, they will find your tweet and click on the link, bringing you some good decent traffic. Trick here to getting them to click is to write persuasive tweets and in a way that will create curiosity. Curiosity kills ;-)
