It’s time to get into some content creation in our 21 Day Challenge. This to me is the most fun part of this entire process, other than the marketing of course ;-)
Today we’re going to cover what content to create, and how to write your content. It’s all about the content. I know you’ve heard it before. “Content is King”. Well it’s no B.S. If people come to your site, and the content sucks, you think they’re gonna come back? Hell NO! They won’t even give you the time of day, ever.
In this section I really want you to focus, and pay close attention. You really want to start off your blog the right way the first time out. First impression plays a big part here.
So with that said, lets begin…
Pages You’ll Need
There are a few things you need to make sure you have before you even go live with your blog. By this I mean certain Pages and Posts on your blog.
A list of Pages you need:
1: About Page – An About page is one of the most visited pages on a blog. When a visitor comes to your blog and finds it to be a good read, the first thing they’re gonna do is go to the About page to see what you’re all about. All the top blogs have them. It’s not there just for show. There’s a good reason for it. To let your new visitors learn more about you and your blog.
How to Write an About Page:
- Write a quick 2 – 3 paragraph bio about you. You don’t have to go into deep detail. Just who you are, where you from, family and kids if you have any, and what you do. You can literally say what you want here and let people know as much as you want them to know about you.
- Write a quick 2 – 3 paragraph about what your blog is about. What type of things to expect, what content, and how this blog will help your readers.
- Write a quick Call to Action. You can have your readers Optin to downloadable a pdf report or an ebook. Like your facebook page, follow on twitter, subscribe to your youtube channel, etc. Any Call to Action will do.
2: Contact Page – A Contact page is just that. This is just a way for your readers to get in contact with you. I use a plugin called cForms. This is very simple and easy to use and set up. You don’t need aweber or nothing like that. When someone fills out the form, it goes right to your email.
To me these first 3 posts is what defines who you are and what your blog is about and how it will help your readers. When they come to your blog and read these posts, they should automatically know what the deal is.
Types of Content to Write:
1: Why I Started my Blog – The first post I generally like to start by writing about why I started my blog. What to expect, and how it will help your readers. I know I said to write about it in the about page. But here it’s different.
In your About page you just give a brief description about your blog. In this post you will go all out. Give great detail about why and what your blog is about.
2: How to Post – The second post I like to do whats called a “How To Post”. This is simply just teaching them how to do something. An instructional type post. This can be in the form of video, content, or both.
Simply pick a topic that you can break down into steps. Try to break them down into 4 – 5 step by step tutorial. If you know how to do something in a different way, or know some kind of trick to do it fast or easier, then teach them how it’s done.
3: A List Post – The 3rd post I like to write what’s called “A List Post”. This is one of the most popular posts in the blogging industry. All you do here is write a list of the top XXX ways to do something, best tools, best blogs, ect.
EX: “Top 5 Ways to Drive Traffic”, “10 Best SEO Plugins”, “5 Easy Steps to Paint Your Nails”…

Choosing the Winner
I will review all your blogs, and choose the winner based on who completed all qualifications, and the contend provided. I was going to have a public voting but then thought that with all the different niches that we might not get a fair shake.
Some people may not like your niche therefore not giving you a proper vote. No worries though. I will post a link to all your blogs here in the next reader challenge update.
